An updated version of the ADMP has been made available. The update contains a number of fixes and supersedes the versions of the RTM and SP1 releases.
Overview:
The Active Directory Management Pack monitors the availability and performance of Windows Server 2000 and 2003 Domain Controllers. It can also issue alerts for configuration problems. Availability and performance monitoring is done using synthetic transactions. In addition, the Management Pack collects Event Log alerts and provides associated knowledge articles with additional user details, possible causes, and suggested resolutions. The Management Pack monitors Windows services critical to a Domain Controller, such as Net Logon, File Replication, KDC, and Windows Time. The Active Directory Client Perspective monitoring is used independently from the monitoring on the Domain Controller. It runs synthetic transactions to validate the availability of the Active Directory deployment from the perspective of an Active Directory client. Client monitoring can be enabled on selected critical members servers or desktop clients.
The Active Directory Management Pack monitors Active Directory and the external components that are related to Active Directory. It provides forest-wide monitoring of the directory service and its required subsystems. In addition to real-time performance and event monitoring, it allows you to respond immediately to critical performance, health, or capacity issues.
Feature Summary:
• Core services (Net logon, KDC), dependent services (File Replication, Windows Time), and SYSVOL/DC Locator availability monitoring
• Synthetic Transactions for general AD, Global Catalog, Op Master Roles response
• Synthetic Replication performance monitoring
• Replication health
• Comprehensive performance metric collection (synthetic transaction and performance counter based)
• Independent Client-side monitoring MP
• Database and Log file growth/free space
• Comprehensive list of tasks to diagnose problems
• AD Topology discovery (Forests, Sites, Domain, and Connection objects between DCs)
• 400+ Event rules with associated knowledge
• Reports in the area of Configuration and Configuration changes, Availability, Performance

The SCCM2997 SDK v4.0 was released yesterday.
This software development kit (SDK) contains documentation and samples for developing Configuration Manager 2007 applications that integrate with the Configuration Manager console, the SMS Provider (server-side applications), and the client-side applications. The SDK enables developers to build plug-ins for the Configuration Manager console, to build automation scripts for batch processing to the SMS Provider, and to manipulate client settings.

Launch Day at the ICC Ghent today. As expected and confirmed during the keynote, the event attendance was huge and it was the first time waiting lists had to be used. Pity for those who did not register in time ... But if they do not mind to travel the Launch in Luxembourg offers a second opportunity.
New Windows Server 2008 features shown today looked very promising. Items such as NAP, HyperV, RODC and Server Core are great. Hopefully some more in depth content on these subjects in the upcoming TechDays.

People with a strong interest in System Center products will be happy to hear this: a new System Center user group is born. Apparently the official announcement of the SCUG is planned during the Techdays tommorow, but the community website is already online today.
Mission statement as found on the SCUG website:
" SCUG.be , the Belgian System Center User Group, is a user group for Belgian IT pro's with a strong focus on Microsoft System Center. We cover the whole System Center suite products, aspects and technologies.
The main goal of the UG is to share experiences and knowledge with each other, deliver technical quality content, created for users by users and organize on a regular basis meetings, sessions and hands-on labs.
